Hi there and welcome to today's issue of Keeping in Touch. A
warm 'hello' to all our new subscribers.

Business on the Internet can take many different forms. We
have business options direct from your website. Affiliate
programs can also be good income generators. One area I have
been remiss in mentioning is network marketing.
Network marketing or mlm (multi-level marketing) is another
option for building a business. Within the last few years
it has become possible to build your network/mlm business
online. Many companies stayed away from this form of online
promotion but today you will find that most companies have
changed their way of thinking.
If you are already in an mlm opportunity, you know and can
appreciate just how much work is involved. I've chosen an
excellent Feature Article today written by Martin Avis. Have
You Got the Energy For MLM? does a terrific job of putting this
type of business into perspective. As with any business, it
takes work -- a lot of it. The most appealing concept of
network marketing is being able to leverage your time by being
paid on everyone's efforts. Just be sure you understand what
you are committing to in this sort of venture.

Cindy offers us all some very sage advice about the importance
of our time.

Have You Got The Energy For MLM?

If you have a dream of running your own business you
have almost certainly thought about network marketing
or MLM.
MLM companies that are well run offer a ready-made,
repeatable business plan that, when followed correctly,
can generate substantial incomes.
These same plans can also lead to dissillusion and
dissapointment. How come? Surely if it works for one,
it should work for everyone.
The truth is that no matter how good the parent
company, how ethically they run their business or how
generous their remuneration plan, MLM'ers are still
human beings. And human beings are just about as
variable as you can get.
For some, network marketing is the answer to a prayer.
These people will excel. They will earn large
commissions and regular bonuses.
For others it will never be 'that simple.'
Just as some folk love mustard and others love ketchup,
so it is with MLM. Some folk will just never get it.
At various points in our lives, my wife and I have
jumped into MLM to 'help pay the bills'.
Let me tell you, for us, the effort always far
outweighed the reward.
Sure, I personally know of several people who are
genuinely making seriously big money. One couple made a
£150,000 bonus check a couple of years ago. Nice bonus!
So, MLM isn't necessarily the ogre that it is sometimes
made out to be. Get the right company, with a good
reward scheme and a great product that people want to
buy - and keep buying - and you potentially have a
winner.
But ... MLM isn't a magic wand.
The people who do make good money would probably make
great money at anything they did. They work all the
hours that God sends (and more).
They also have a very specific blend of personality
traits that frankly, most of us don't match: they
combine super sales abilities, with immense patience
and teaching skills, AND they have boundless energy.
You will make a little money in a good MLM company by
selling the product. But usually, only a little.
The real cash only starts to flow when you reach a
critical mass of recruits - all feeding small amounts
of commission back into your account.
So, you have to ask yourself some honest questions:
* Do I have the time to devote at least 12 hours a day
to building my business. (Believe me, any less and you
will never get big checks.)
* Have I got limitless energy to keep on doing this day
in, day out?
* Am I imaginitive enough to keep finding new ways of
reaching people?
* Am I a highly persuasive sales person?
* Will I have a problem recruiting others?
* If and when I do recruit others, will I have the time
and patience to train them in the best ways to run the
business?
* Am I prepared to travel long distances to host
recruitment meetings?
* Can I afford to advertise to get leads?
* Can I afford to do all of the above for very little
return for at least the first 3 months?
I know from repeated personal experience, and that of
many, many others that unless you can answer yes to all
of the above questions, MLM isn't ever going to make
you a fortune.
And, as an observation, it seems to me that if you do
have the boundless energy, limitless time, and superb
sales talent needed to prosper in MLM, you would be far
better off applying it to building your own business.
That way you would keep all the profits.
That was ultimately what I did - and I haven't
regretted it for a second.
MLM can be good. But go into it with the rose-tinted
glasses firmly locked in their case.

Excuse Me, Do You Have The Time?

Your time is valuable. Do you use it wisely or often waste it?
How often do you use these phrases..."Sorry, I don't have
time...I will if I have time...If only I had more time...If only
I could turn back the time"... and so many more. The one that
I use quite often is "Time went faster than I did!".
When I had a 'job', I couldn't believe how slow time went for
that first hour and a half. Time slowly crept along. The days
were long. I remember thinking of all I could get done if I was
at home.
Now I am at home and doing my Internet business full time. I
can't believe how fast time goes by. The saying "Do what you
love and time will fly by" is true.
I can spend 12 hours or more in a day at my computer, including
eating, and it feels more like 6. But was all that time
productive? No. It's so easy to get side tracked. Just going
through email can be a challenge.
You have to be really focused to stay on track of your goal.
The Internet is so vast with so much information, you can get
lost in it's vortex. If you're not careful, life will pass you by.
So what's the answer? Here are a few tips:
1. Have specific goals. Make a list of what you want to
accomplish that day. Writing it down will help clarify your mind.
2. Stay focused. Do only what is on the list. If you come
across something else that needs to be done, write it down for
later. After completing your list, then you can research, learn
or play whatever.
3. Take breaks. Get up and move around. Get outside, take a
walk, stretch, jump up and down, smell the roses or ....
4. If working your business part time, break your list into
smaller chunks and set a time limit. May be an hour or two.
5. Don't let your computer or your business run your life. Many
marriages have been destroyed because the partner was a
workaholic. Life needs to be somewhat balanced. Granted, you
will spend more time getting your business started. But, if
that's all you do, your loved ones may not be around when you
finally succeed.
6. Automate and delegate as much as you can, as soon as you
can. That's one of the great perks of working on the Internet.
Your business can be working and making you money, while
you're playing.
7. Take time for your partner, kids, family, friends, your
favorite sport or hobby and mainly yourself. Enjoy the journey
now.
Your time is valuable. Saving time is not like saving money. You
cannot accumulate time. You can't store it up. Once it passes,
it's gone forever. You can't get it back. Invest your time wisely.
And remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called
the present!
Take the time to enjoy your life as it is now. No regrets.
