Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs can be a great way to start your online business, whether you have your own website or not. When you sign up as an affiliate for a program, you are paid on sales that are generated from a special link that that company provides you with.

I won't tell you it's a snap to make money with affiliate programs but it can be done. It still takes work, time and effort on your part. You need to be committed to your marketing efforts. Don't sign up for a month or two, then move on to the next program. You won't get anywhere fast doing that.

With the problems we are facing with browser security issues (Internet Explorer, for example), spam and stricter rules for search engines, affiliate sales can ultimately suffer.

When you choose an affiliate program, pick one that offers commissions on two levels. That way you'll be paid for your own sales as well as a percentage on sales made by affiliates who sign up under you.

And be creative with your marketing. Most affiliate programs offer ads that you can run but if your visitors see the same ad plastered all over the place, they are less likely to check out what you are offering.

Another thing to try to remember when deciding whether to become an affiliate for a product or service is - does this relate to the market you are trying to reach?

One of my favorite affiliate programs is The Newbie Club. They offer tons of products and they are all geared to the internet newbie. You'll always have people new to computers who need help and they have loads of tutorials, ebooks and links to help you. The best part is - everything is spelled out in easy to understand language so that you don't need a 'techie degree' to understand it.

Another one that offers quality products is Marlon Sanders' with his Higher Response affiliate program. An example would be Push Button Letters. This is a terrific product for those who either don't know how to write a good sales letter for their site or just don't want to put in all the effort. With Marlon's software, you basically fill in the blanks, choose your style and colors and 'poof' - out pops your dynamite sales letter. It couldn't be easier.

Resell Rights

Another way to create an income stream is through resell rights. This means you purchase the right to resell a product from the creator of the product and you get to keep the money for the sale. Again, the products you choose should tie in with the audience you are trying to reach.

For example, one of the products I have is Hitting The Search Engines. It's a simple but straight forward report that will show you how to get listed in the search engines without any of the hype surrounding algorithms and stuff. Just do it right the first time and you will be found. This report also contains a few important, but simple, tips.

A new area that hasn't seen much in the way of publicity until recently is the Public Domain. I purchased the rights to the ten Public Domain Reports.

This is an area that is opening up and can provide you with products that you don't even have to pay for. But you have to know where to look for them. These reports tell you where to look and how to search for books, manuals, movies, photos and more. These are properties that have fallen into expired copyright and by repackaging it, you will be able to sell it as your own product.

Membership Sites

Not all membership sites are created equally. Carlos Garcia runs Wealthy Secrets and he's done a great job with this site. He offers loads of bonuses when you sign up and many products include the resell rights. By sharing your link with others, you can also earn an affiliate income.
